The FrSky NFC Power Switch is a convenient tool that can safely connect and disconnect the power supply while keeping the battery connected. This kit is composed of an NFC switch and a Power I/O board that supports connecting 2S to 6S batteries and capable of running 20Amp continuous current and Max 30Amp. Quickly combine all parts together, now you can simply utilize the NFC key to access the power!

Features:

  • Utilized the safe and contactless NFC switch design.
  • Avoid the hassle of plugging in / unplugging the battery.
  • The power is disconnected in default while the NFC base is connected
  • Supports wireless power-switch function through the transmitter (firmware not available yet)
  • (*with the specific ACCESS F.Port 2.0 capable receiver or wireless receiving unit) This function is not available yet.

Specifications:

Hi,

Does anyone have more details on this switch. I am a radio sailor and wish to 'seal' my hull at home before leaving for the lake. This switch seems to enable me to turn the battery 'off' until I want to sail but:

1/How thick can the wooden hull be for it to work? I have a 2mm thick area but would prefer to use it where the deck is 3mm thick.

2/It there any interference if the areal is placed too close to a receiver antenna?

Hope you can advise.

Thanks

Stuartt

Hi all,

I emailed FrSky HO and they assure me - in their own words:

"The aerial can work through 3mm of wood, it can't interfere with the 2.4ghz receiver (Archer) antenna"

ps. I've ordered one, will do a test on wood thickness and revert back. Suspect wood has minimal to no impact, its the distance that counts.

I am not convinced they understood the question??  seems this is to do with receiver operation behind wood.

@barrycole

Barry, my question to them was clear and I referred to the 'aerial' on the NFC and asked if the NFC switch interfered with the 2.4ghz antenna. It is actually quite logical that the NFC switch would work through non radio blocking materials but what I wnted to know was the range it worked. 1mm, 5mm?

Also, I doub't FrSky would make a NFC switch that interfered with the 2.4ghz antenna.

Nevertheles, I now have one on order and should be able to test it next week. I will report back on my findings.

Its worth noting that I want to seal my boat hull at home before leaving for the lake, only switching on the RC receiver and 2 servos to sail. I could use a magnetic switch - as I have done before but have 2 problems ith this:

1/ There seem to be no magnetic switches in the country at present!

2/ This NFC switch at £24 is noit much more expensive - good magnetic switches retail at £20.

So if it works well, its worth reporting on!

Stuart

I'll also add some more feedback on my earlier comments on 2.4ghz reception over water.

I have been using this switch since it was first released, it does work through 3mm ply.

Cliff,

Thanks - I've now established this myself by installing it! Great solution, but it took me a bit longer that I thought to install as the battery in/out cables need to be hard soldered to the switch. Didn't expect that so I waited until I was certain about the positioning of wires etc.

Going on water tomorrow, will feed back after that trial.
