[Sticky] Taranis Q X7
X7 has nearly all of the same features as the Taranis Plus, because it also runs OpenTX. FrSky has focused on reducing the price, while also making some improvements. The only differences are that the X7 has a smaller LCD display, only 6 switches instead of 8, and no side sliders. It has a more modern case design with excellent ergonomics, having large rubber grips on the back and gentle angles on the front. Navigation of the radio is greatly improved with a rotary encoder on the right of the display, and 3 buttons on the left.
It also comes with no battery, and no battery charger. The X7 can take six normal AA cells pack, or a 2S Lipo. The X7 uses a battery connector that will mate with those used on 2S Lipo balancing plugs and now has an internal charging curcuit, so no need to remove batteries for charging.
The power switch is a flush membrane switch, and must be held down for four seconds to turn off, avoiding turning it off accidentally.
The X7 will work with all FrSky receivers and sensors, giving you one of the largest reasonably priced selections to choose from, with FrSky's rock solid RF system which has an excellent reputation.

I have a QX7 and a Horus X10 Express - I use the X10E mainly but sometimes want to leave the QX7 in the car for thos impulse flyng days when flying smaller models. Most of my receivers are either R9M Slim+ or S6R or S8R or X8R, I am having trouble binding them to my QX7, so am I correct in thinking that if I get an FrSky R9M 2019 then I will be able to bind all my current receivers to the QX7 via the R9M 2019?
@bluewing58 sounds like you have a mismatch of firmware on the QX7. I suspect your Express is on ISRM 2.1.* and running ACCST V2? in which case your QX7 maybe on Original ACCST? if so you may want to update the XJT to 2.1.*
R9M 2019 has ACCESS firmware so if you want to run it on your QX7 you would have to flash it back to ACCST, this will not acheive what your after if your R9 are ACCESS?
@richbago Thanks for coming back. I had the QX7 before upgrading to the X10E.
The QX7 is only going to be used as a back up and left in the car for those impromptu moments when passing a flying field. Most of my planes/wings etc have S6R's in them, I have an older module that I used to use as I used to use DSM receivers before I converted everything to FrSky. So what I am really trying to achieve is to use the QX7 with all my FrSky receivers, which are are either R9M Slim+ or S6R or S8R or X8R - mainly S6Rs - and so my train of thought was to get a R9M module for my QX7. Thoughts please.
OK, so you will need to flash the QX7 internal XJT firmware to 2.1, then you will be able to bind the ACCST receivers your using with the Express. for the R9 Slim is it on ACCESS or ACCST? if it is on ACCST then you can use the module your using in the Express in the QX7, if its on ACCESS then you wont be able to use it with the QX7
